Congratulations to our library colleagues who collected their Teaching Expert Award last Thursday 10th December: Susan Boyle, Jenny Collery, Michelle Dalton, Peter Hickey, James Molloy, Carmel Norris, Diarmuid Stokes, the College Liaison Librarian team. Read more about this award.
The “Teaching Experts Awards for Higher Education” event was a wonderful occasion, held in the Printworks, Dublin Castle and attended by an audience of over 200 with food, wine and music.
The team was successful in the initial UCD competition to be nominated and following further work including the creation of a video, was shortlisted at the national level.
The review group, comprised of international experts, were looking for what nominees were doing differently to others and were very impressed by both our team approach and strategic focus. They gave the following feedback.
“Your submission differentiated itself in a number of ways: Your active development of collaborative expertise, your development and sharing of significant and impactful approaches and resources that enhance the learning of students and the teaching skills of academics across a range of disciplines, your contribution to national strategic goals and your active championing of and knowledge in high level information literacy have all been noted by the panel as exemplary. The panel got a real sense of a strong and collaborative team, using its expertise and knowledge in ways that are really making a difference to the teaching and learning experiences in Irish higher education”
This is a great achievement for UCD Library, and for libraries in general. It’s important to acknowledge the contribution of many other Library staff to the success of the Teaching & Learning agenda at UCD Library over the years.
