The Digitisation of the papers of Richard Mulcahy
UCD Archives is pleased to announce that it has successfully applied for Irish Research Council funding to undertake preparatory work on the Richard Mulcahy papers, prior to their digitisation.
The Papers of Richard Mulcahy, are a key source for the study of the Irish revolutionary period. The collection catalogues now require upgrading to properly reflect the collection’s importance and to prepare it for digitisation and publication online via the UCD Digital Library.
The project work will be undertaken from April – July 2016. A researcher will be engaged to identify the scope of cataloguing work and metadata creation necessary to enable digitisation. The successful candidate will work with staff members in both UCD Archives and the UCD Digital Library. The application procedure will be available shortly.
The collection was transferred to the custody of UCD Archives following the establishment of the Mulcahy Trust in December 1970 to make permanent arrangements for the disposition of the Mulcahy Papers. It includes material from 1900-1970 and comprises: 126 boxes; 3 portfolios of outsize material including maps and political posters; 4 boxes outsize material; tape recordings
