Kate Manning has been appointed Principal Archivist at UCD Archives and took up her appointment on 1 March. Kate studied English literature and music at UCD (1990) and went on to complete a Masters degree in modern English and American literature (1992). After working for some years as a teacher and organist, she returned to UCD to undertake the Higher Diploma in Archival Studies (1997). She took up a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh in 2000 where she worked with leading archival theorist, Prof. Richard Cox. She returned to UCD Archives in 2001 as the archivist with responsibility for university archives. She has served on the committees of the Irish Society for Archives and the Archives and Records Association, Ireland. Kate is a registered member of ARA. She also served as Reviews Editor of the then Journal of the Society of Archivists. Kate is looking forward to promoting UCD Archives’ outstanding private paper collections, especially those concerning the Irish revolutionary period in this Decade of Commemorations; to continue expanding its significant collections and to develop UCD Archives collaboration with UCD Digital Library in the provision of online access to UCD Archives’ collections.
